The Journey Begins...

My name is Lori, and I am a board certified music therapist.  I have been working at my current position for almost nine years and love the clients I work with.  However, life is about to completely change.  I am planning on going to grad school, move to a new city and hopefully start my own private practice.  I'm excited, terrified and hopeful all at the same time.

I decided that I would start a new blog to chronicle this journey.  I have "met" several other music therapists with their own private practices through social networking.  They have all been supportive and encouraging.  I have come to feel that I belong to a special group of people who actually get it.  I feel a part of something bigger than myself.  And hopefully these wonderful people won't mind my questions as I plug along.

I decided to name the blog "New Adventures of an Old Music Therapist" because that's kind of how I feel.  It is a play on the name of a TV show that I have never watched, but I thought it was fitting.  I'm not sure how often I'll blog, but I hope you'll come along for the journey.  I welcome comments, suggestions, questions, whatever.

I will also include links to some other blogs and pages of fellow music therapists who I follow, admire and look to for guidance during this process.  This is a work in progress.  I'm sure there will be some laughs, some tears and some questions, but I hope it will be a fun and informative look at this journey .

And so, the journey begins...

  1. YAY LORI! It's such a wonderful (and difficult) journey. So glad you'll be blogging it! Will you be at SER? I'm hoping to present my own 'journey' there.

    Good luck!
